January 20th Weekly Updates

On December 3, 2018 by Michelle G Black

Good evening, Meadow Glen Explorers! We hope you are having a great weekend. Please remember that tomorrow, Monday the 20th, is a school holiday as we celebrate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, junior.

This past Friday, students attend an assembly and received information about taking the Heart Healthy Challenge. Please check out the information that came home and help your student take the challenge.

In light of the extensive fires in Australia and the crisis regarding animals injured by fire, Meadow Glen Elementary is participating in a collection of new socks, gloves, and mittens in child and adult sizes. If you would like to contribute to Mittens for Marsupials, a collection box is in the main office and will be there until Friday, January 24. Faculty members are also collecting supplies to help our fellow educators at North Central High School. If you are interested in more information about that effort, needs are posted at https://www.kcsdschools.net/recovery

We are looking forward to celebrating Chinese New Year the week of January 27 – 31. Our Immersion classes have been working diligently in preparation. All MGES students will be invited to an assembly on the morning of January 31st. Friday evening, immersion families are invited to attend a dinner performance of the same program. We hope that all immersion families are able to attend the Friday evening performance but if you are unable to attend the evening show, please plan to come in the morning. Additional details will be shared through your homeroom teacher.

All families should have received information about upcoming student-led conferences. These will be held the first week of March and you will not want to miss the opportunity to hear your student shared about his or her growth this year. Teachers will send out sign up sheets for your convenience.

Lastly, thank you! I am enjoying getting to know you and your children and appreciate the opportunity to work with you all. This has been an incredible first six months as your principal and I look forward to many, many more!

See you Tuesday as we continue to Empower each child to design the Future!
